Talkback

I have very little hope that this move is going to work. Compared to the other hardships that have already been imposed on people in Gaza by cutting off food supplies, fuel, and medicine, turnnig off the electricity is just another bothersome inconvenience. Why do we expect any pressure to be exerted on Hamas by Gazans, or by us, when far more severe measures and military action has not made Hamas capitulate, lose its support, or stop shooting?

Like Iran, like Hezballah in Lebanon, there is no feasible military solution to the Hamas in Gaza. And like the case of Iran, Israel would do far more to work to encourage a change in the regime in Gaza. That means increasing people`s resentment of Hamas instead of encouraging more hate and resentment towards Israel, which is what Hamas feeds upon.
