| Unlike the Moslem countries surrounding it, Israel maintains a reputation for incredible tolerance for the religious institutions and symbols of other faiths. So this outrageous, stupid and criminal bejavior, by extremist Jews, is not just an unwarranted, offensive anti-Christian act; it is a challenge to the Israeli society itself. I suspect the difference between this occurrence and past Christian and Moslem destruction of Jewish buildings, graveyards and symbols will be that this one will not go unpunished. In a sense, its very worst aspect is that it unleashes the loons like Linthwaite who are ready to make blanket assumptions about Jews or Jerusalem and demand useless "boycotts" yet again. |
