The flaw lies precisely in the ideology of jewish uniqueness and of the super-manichean struggle between all jews qua jews and the rest of humanity (the sitra achra).
This ideology (which those jews who do not share, refer to as "the ideology of the ghetto") was perfectly suited to the maintenance of a uniform and strongly governed orthodox jewry, which the rabbis, in conjunction with their rich and urbane patrons, could then offer as a malleable political work force to adjoining empires.
To perpetuate this view of jewish identity using the power of a sovereign state is to invite, and indeed to demand, destruction. |
