You forgot that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards have already attacked by kidnapping British sailors and using proxy terrorist forces to massacre innocent people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Israel and around the world including London. You are right that sanctions are the only alternative to war, provided only that they are strong enough to be effective. That is why Brown is proposing not only sanctions through the UN but also sanctions through the EU.
