Neutralizing 10,000 extremely cheap Palestinian rockets by sophisticated defensive weaponry will require a greater budget to fund it than the entire Israeli GDP. Estimating that such a defensive shield will block 90% of incoming missiles will mean that the remaining 10% will still get through. You don`t have to be a maths genius to work out the facts. Barak`s bankrupted Israel will still be hit by 1000s of Palestinian missiles that slipped through the defensive shield umbrella.
A much cheaper alternative which will be just about as efficacious is to hand out Valium pills to the people of Sderot.
A much more realistic alternative: Offensive warfare. Knock the stuffing out of the Palestinian terrorist infrastructure. There is no alternative. Barak has lost sight of reality here. The missile defense alternative he is pursuing will only bring grief to the Israeli people. |
