You`re painting one sided picture. The reality is the big "onslaught" of the speaking russian immigratin for the past decade and a half was full of unusual people whose affinity to Israel and Judaism was, and still is very minimum to none existaent. As such their ability to integrate in the Israeli society was difficult, apriory, even an impossibilty to the maximum. For political reasons, the Israel establishment encouraged those very difficult segments for integration, to maintain their language and culture, to their detriment and to the sad results for the Israel society. Thus, the murders, the excessive drinking that create a social disconnect and family breakdown; and those are only few reasons -no matter how high you might get in cvhess - the overall impression, for good or bad, is very negative. As part of the Maroccan diaspora, I still hear the various manes the 40s-50s` immigrant were point out, but it lasted few just short while, as the vast majority learned the language, integrated into the mainstream and went on to build Israel. We can talk about the Oligarch, and the chaos that ex Soviet Union was in during a decades; but the most important is the lack of integration (to learn the Hebrew..) is the main reason why the two parts of the population will be apart for long long long time. |
