I hesitate to refer to those from the FSU as "Russian Jews", as not all are Russian, and too large a portion are not Jews by any measure. Many lack any substantive connection to the Jewish people, some are even hostile to Jews. With their crucifixes, love of pork, and lack of any familial sympathy to a people they have ostensibly joined, they should never have been invited in. They have great difficulty integrating into Israel because they don`t fit into its cultural ethos.

Mind you, there are many who struggled to reconnect to their Jewish heritage, and have worked to strengthen the Jewish state, and they are certainly welcome. So which "Russian Jews" does Lieberman seek to bring in?

BTW, the NYT had an article last week about the impact of non-Jewish Russian immigrants on the Brighton Beach community of Russian Jews.
