Why wait 2-3 years to deal with a future threat that will probably get harder to stop when it when it is ready for use.
If Syria had been permited to build its reactor as planned then chances are they would have developed better defenses for it making a future air strike much harder to carry out this way you put back any neuclear weapons ambitions before they get of the starting ground which is better than a situation than we have with Iran today where they are on the verge of those weapons because not enough effort was made to try stop then untill it passed the point of no return.
Now its either major US airstrikes which the Iranians will retaliate to or its play the diplomacy game .. we talk. Iran says no, we talk some more, Iran says no, we discuss sanctions, Russia and China use their veto and while all of this is going on the Iranians are continuing to enrich uranium and talking them closer to getting their nuke.
Syria at least has been dealt with before a problem arose. |
