| ,(now deceased cancer specialist,born in Poland) has described in a program shown this year on Swedish TV her time in the Warsaw Ghetto. Polish underground refused to provide more than a meagre measure of weapons to the Ghetto. Hirshorns,then a young people escaped with few surviving fighters from the burning Ghetto.They were helped by some Poles,but all the time had to be aware of others,reporting escaping Jews to Gestapo after extorting money from them. They escaped from Poland to Sweden after learning the last surviving Jews in a provincial town had been murdered by a mob,accusing them of "murdering Christian children and tapping blood from them".It was just after the war. M.Edelstein published a letter in the "Haaretz" some 3 years ago protesting the current Polish antisemitism. He who had remained in Poland and has declared himself being anti-Israel. |
