| The rightists in Israel want to negotiate from a position of strength, or better yet to dictate an outcome aligned with their interests. The inflexibility of the current cabinet`s negotiating position becomes even more apparent by the day and is exasperated by the inclusion of the far right in Olmerts cabinet. This bodes poorly for a real peace settlement. The far right, and indeed the mainstream right, will reject it as will the Palestinians extremists and why? Because real peace will me real sacrifices and that is a threat to Hamas, Al-Aqsa as well as the IDF. |
