he rticle is very subtle and very directive. Its intent is to demonise, no lets put it in very positive way: to show the Orthodox establishment in Israel that there are Jewish way that preconise the participation of the believer. Fine and dundy, I hope some of that wink wink, will be picked up by those parties inquestion. My most important point that I wish to raise with Mr. Schwarz is that he should have read little bit about the Moroccan Jewish Culture when it comes to its attitude towards God and Religion. Let him be reminded that Maimonides, Great son of Fez, and of course Spain, Egypt and Israel, wrote plainly about his rational, i.e. influence of Aristotle, and Aquinas as well, in all his writins, especial in "The Guide to the Perplex". On personal note, my dad zl` anvery Kabalist Orthodox, always behaved towards his God and his Environment in the same manner that the Gibraltarians displaied: after all their culture is as much Moroccan as my late dad. I think Mr. Schwartz is into something: the education of an Ashkenaze of the very tolerant culture of a Sepharad, especially the North African Jewery. I hope his other subliminal intents will be picked up by the Orthodox community in Israel. |
