This is nothing new. Christians got the whole "you`re not part of the tribe if you disagree with me" thing going a long time ago. Assembly of God adherents, for instance, believe anyone who doesn`t adhere to their branch of Christianity is going straight to hell.
Liberal Christians just don`t care what AOG, or Southern Baptists, or other fundamentalist sects think, and ignore them. You don`t see articles in American newspapers lamenting "Baptist Preacher says all Episcopalians are not Christians!" because it`s not news. Of course they think that. They`re fundamentalists. The only time liberal Christians notice the little fellows is when they try to run for office, in which case they are opposed, because putting people like that in charge of things is not a sensible thing to do. |
