| Some years ago I spent my night at the top of Mt.Sinai under the wonderful starry heavens. Few days later I met an Israeli astronomer. He felt sorry that Sinai was given back to Egypt during the peace negotiations in 1979. Otherwise Sinai would have been a fantastic place (with observatories and facilities)for both professional and amateur astronomers. Also a far better place to spend the winter-holidays with snorkeling in The Read Sea and astronomy in the mountains, than here in the cold and cloudy (winter) Norway. |
