| This idea of Arabs suddenly flooding into Palestine when the European immigrants began coming is patent misinformation that keeps getting repeated in the hopes that it will be believed. Your naivete can be easily unmasked by anyone who has read Jabotinsky`s "On the Iron Wall," who speaks of the "Palestinian Arabs" and of the problem of getting rid of them somehow as they will never give up their "birthright." He calls them a "nation." If there were no Palestinian Arabs abounding in the early 20th century, why does Jabotinsky worry about their reaction to the influx of immigrants who wish to found a Jewish state? What about the ancient villages and cities, especially Ramallah, founded in 1500? As for there being no Palestine, there was no modern Israel before 1948. After the fall of the Ottomans, who had occupied Palestine for centuries, Great Britian cruelly betrayed the Arabs with the baleful Balfour Declaration. That is when the revolt started and it continues to this day. |
