jews are back in germany. somebody above mentioned that many germans also died in concentration camps. please note - it`s hardly ever mentioned - that the german jews killed WERE germans - first and foremost. this is: hitler killed his own people. if he had killed catholics, we would now think of germans vs. catholics. by destroying jewish life in germany, hitler impoverished part of the very essence of what german culture is/was - the german future (artistic, scientific, etc.) was impoverished! the division germans/jews is completely post hoc (after the fact) and artificial.
maybe if we start integrating that perspective when thinking about the holocaust than maybe we`d help overcome old stereotypes against entire nations. nations are made up of the individuals in that country and the jews belong(ed) to germany as much as yiddish is dialect of the german language. (another little known fact that might annoy some germanophobes here: never did a majority of germans vote for hitler) |
