My friend, Mr. Goldman,
Yours is a fair and sincere comment.
I deplore Ahmadi-Nejad`s unthoughtful comments; I like his anti-corruption and his pro-poor stance but deplore his incompetence. It is fair for Israelis (and Haa`retz) to respond IN KIND -- i.e. harsh RHETORIC, not pushing for an actual attack.
I commend Haa`retz`s pro-peace stance, even very timidly agreeing to talk to Hamas (although I am not sure that Haaretz editorial line would contenance that).
Looking to the immediate future, there are two counter-productive moves, besides raising the decibels about an attack on Iran: (1) overt or covert operations to bolster Rafsanjani`s bid to get Khamenei`s post; (2) misconstruing Iran`s readiness to help in Iraq (I think they genuinely want to stabilise Iraq -- up to Iraqis to sort out sectarian strife, oil privatisation, revenue sharing, etc).
In 1970`s, I had been a very active memeber of the MSA of US/Canada (now ISNA) and I lived the Iranian Revolution. |
