Here`s more. ?The living accommodations at Kfar Hayarok were completely wrong...4 big athletes in a tiny room on short cots! They wee right about the disgusting food and having to go out to buy good quality food. These guys also had to lug their laundry off campus on a bus or in a taxi to a place in Ramat Hasharon. This was not the "first class" accommodation that was promised to them when they signed on.
I spoke with hundreds of Israelis who had not heard that pro-baseball was happening in Israel. There was very poor PR and community outreach. Also, since none of the teams were actually located in the cities they represented, no real fan identification with the teams was possible.
I was disappointed to find the situation as it was...But I was thrilled to see baseball in Israel. I attended 10 games in ll days, including the all-star. I hope baseball will become a permanent fixture on the Israeli scene. I will always be first in line for tickets. |
