As a Jew by choice, who is making aliyah this Decemeber, I find this entire conversation insulting. I undersand Israel`s need to make sure sincere garim are receiving citizenship. There are many benefits that olim receive upon making aliyah. We dont need any more criminals or morally corrupt individuals taking from our gov`t without any intentions of giving back to our Jewish society. To the author of the #2 talkback, what do you mean, "ONCE A JEW, ALWAYS A JEW only applies to the born and bred Jews." I think you need a little education on the history of Judaism and Halacha. Many wonderful and important contributors of Jewish society and culture were Jews by choice such as Ruth, Rabbi Akiva, and Oncles among many. Not only is it an insult to mention the status of a convert, to say a gar will never be accepted in Jewish or Israeli society is against Jewish law. Anyone who is willing to give up everything to become a Jew and accept Torah should be encouraged. I will make Israel my home! |
