Jewish converts, who have lived in Israel and want to live there permanently, in my opinion, should have a right to make aliyah to Israel, for they already know that life in Israel is tough, yet they have accepted it as it is. The Jewish converts, who have converted abroad and have no inkling of the people, conflicts, everyday life in Israel, I advice to think twice of moving to Israel. Moving to Israel is even to many born Jews a tremendous culture-shock and I assure, you will be missing your mum a lot making the telephone lines glow hot with your homesick. Therefore those converts, to whom Israel is a totally new experience, I suggest that you visit Israel freguently and stay there a couple of months every now and then for ex. engaging yourselves with many volunteer jobs available in Israel. Then one day, you may feel ready to take the leap to the not-so-unknown but familiar Israel, where you have many friends! Israel will always be there, I hope your faith in Judaism will too! |
