I have seen all the messages of thanks from Greek people in these forums (especially Jerusalem Post).
It is clear that any misunderstandings or prejudices are linked only to politics (Greek government aligned with Arabic states to offset Turkey; Israeli government aligned with Turkey to offset Arabs).
It must be said, this has nothing to do with relations between peoples. My closest, best, and oldest friends are Greek people from my student days; some of them I consider to be like brothers - a word I do not use lightly. I have been in Greece, and loved the country; it had the kind of captivating charm I normally associate only with Israel.
I hope and believe that one day these 2 ancient, great peoples- Greeks and Jews- will be, not simply "strategic allies" out of political convenience, but closest of friends. |
