I remember quite clearly, when the idea for the separation wall was proposed, the solemn Israeli pledge that this was going to be a security wall and not the marking of a political border. So cut the crap. The starting point is clear. It is either going to be UNGA resolution 181 or SCR 242 and 338, which clearly states that acquisition of territory by war is unacceptable. Face it Israel, you should be so lucky to end up with 78% of Mandate Palestine. Anything less will be unacceptable to the Palestinian people. Gaza and the Westbank should have contiguity as should the northern and southern part of the Westbank. Essential too is contiguity with East-Jerusalem as the political, cultural and economical capital of Palestine. Israel will need to accept its responsibility for creating the Palestinian refugee problem and accept the Right of Return in principle and try to settle the plight of the refugees in an acceptable way. |
