The great French Protestant theologian Jacques Ellul, in his book Betrayal of the West, published (in English translation) back in 1978, noted that the plight of the Kurds had been ignored and that they were among the truly oppressed in this world precisely because they did not have the spotlight of world attention focused on their plight as did those few groups whose cause was being exploited to promote a politically correct agenda.
