I am a Lutheran pastor, and don`t know much about Cardinal Lustiger. But I do think as far as ecumenism and acceptance of other faiths goes, he had it right.
Today, I sat down with a Palestinian restaurant owner in the Chicago area, asking him to give my church a break on catering a meal for an event that we are hosting to re-build demolished Palestinian homes. We talked about religion, politics, and philosophy.
He said to me, "We call ourselves Jews, Christians, and Muslims. But God does not call us by these names. He only sees us as Children of God."
And, he offered to cater the event for free.
People, all we have to do is see each other as children of God, and act accordingly. |
