Many Jews in Cardinal Lustigers situation remained Jews..some religious...some not. His choice was to become a Catholic and in doing this he rose to a high rank in the church. Maybe he felt guilty about his choice and in his heart never gave up his love of Judaism...who knows what he was feeling. Only G-d knows and now the Cardinal will have his chance to speak to the almighty.In any case it seems that he was a good man...maybe a tortured man because of his decisions....may he rest in peace in the arms of
HaShem and may those that loved him find solace in the memories he leaves behind. |
