The Associated Press: Yad Vashem honors Romanian gentile who saved Jews during WWII
Talkback
Title:Multumesc, Domn Criveanu
Name:Johnny Weintraub
City: Sugar LandState: Texas USA
Chernovitz is in Bucovina, which formerly was a northern province of Romania prior to World War II. I once knew a gentleman in Houston, Texas, who came from Chernovitz, and I wonder if he was one of the Jews that Domn Criveanu was able to save from the gas chambers. Unfortunately, the gentleman is also now deceased, and I can not ask him. I know his widow, and perhaps she will tell me. At any rate, Teodor Criveanu is most worthy of the honor from Yad Vashem for his compassion to humanity.
