I have met many Israeli Jews who are mortally embarrassed and spurned to act by what settlers and their government do to Palestinians, and they have one thing in common: they have gone to witness these actions for themselves and have come back transformed (and what human wouldn`t be, really?). Actually, they have at least one other thing in common: they have the extraordinary courage to speak out, at the risk of being alienated by their friends and family, & some social slander.
I challenge those of you who assail Amira Hass to take some time to go witness what you are doing in the oPt. There are organizations there that will facilitate such journeys. The only thing you have to fear is a positive transformation and some alienation from your peers who lack your courage. And if not? Complicity |
