| Is this the way Jews behave? I have always been proud to call myself an Israeli, but the way that Israel has treated the Ethiopians, the refugees from Darfur, and the survivors of the Holocaust saddens me and shames me. How can I defend Israel`s virtue as a Light among Nations when they turn their backs on the neediest in their midst? And the haredi who live only for themselves and contribute nothing to humanity; why are they subsidized while the truly desperate are neglected. Israel no longer serves its purpose as the homeland of the most persecuted people in the world. It`s not the homeland of a holy and righteous people anymore. |
