I can agree with a number of your statements, especially the one about the erosion of the democratic majority in Israel. However, those who want to restrict teaching history and want it tought in different ways among Jewish and Arab communities, like "no green line" for the former and "no nakba" for the latter, are on the fast-track towards an anti-democratic regime. Furthermore, if the use of the symbols on the flags of Great Britain (the queen being Head of the Church of England), Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, and others goes back to a religious tradition, these same countries strictly guarantee absolute freedom of religion and are not coercive in a matter like marriage. If I agree with you that we should make sure that all citizens receive the same quality of education, giving them equal chances in life, an obligation that is the responsability of the State, every citizen is free to take private extra curiculum programs, e.g. religion.
