Israel was created as a safe haven for Jews from all countries after thousands of years of exiles and prosecutions, the world had never seen before. This state should look after the Jewish people, but often we get the impression that it is more occupied with the well-being of people like Arafat or Abbas. And finally, Israel did not survive its birth by higher or better education. Quite to the contrary, it was the will and the determination of Jews mainly from Eastern Europe to fight and to prevail, to work as farmers, to create settlements, to work in the chalk-pits. Those with the best education, like the Yekkes, were only a laugh in Israel. For the future, education is necessary but useless without the absolute will to prevail. |
