| Very different from everything we`ve been told by Lakshmi, especially, and a whole host of others claiming to be so intimate with an understanding of Palestinian thought and values. While it`s not so surprising to see the decline in support for Ishmael the Deposed, given his incredible brutality during the ouster of Fatah, it is heartening and quite appealing to note that 66% of respondents would vote Fatah if it undertook reforms. Recently, many posters here have ridiculed Mr. Fayyad`s reform package, suggesting that they were "uncle tom"-like or smacked of being "israel/americas poodle" and other such drivel. This poll is nothing short of stunning and bears out much of the thinking that suggests most Palestinians do not want to be represented by masked bandits. |
