Even the old style, Stalinist, slave to Moscow, Communist Parties in the West took part in the campaigns to rid the world of nuclear weapons. There was nothing ambigious about their policies. It was simply get rid of nuclear weapons. However now you have a different soort of slavish mentality. Not to Moscow but to Iran. Chris Linthwaite openly defends Iran`s possession as a prerequisite to MAD.
