It was a smart move by Hamas to boycott the parliament`s session so that when it regains its majority it will be able to nullify all of Abbas` decrees (including the new government).
Hamas does not have a majority now because most of its faction is held prisoner in Israel, in retaliation for Shalit`s kidnapping. When Shalit is released, it appears that part of the deal will have to include releasing the Hamas legislators, thus giving Hamas its majority back.
The question is: Will Israel be willing now to trade for Shalit`s release? Unfortunately, this is unlikely. I hope the kid does not get sick in his confinement. |
