| The Talkback feature here has definitely become a forum for an ideological shouting match and not for real discussion, yet, amusingly, there are responders to this very article who are perennial "shouters", yet who join in the complaint. This Talkback might therefore be the funniest one yet. Those who shout (albeit in measured tones, using reasonably proper English)not only think they are posing "arguments", but they also bemoan the inability of other ignorant participants to listen to them. You don`t have to use CAPS to "shout", you just have to be always "on message" and never vary from a clear bias. Maybe the fact that Talkback is very "democratic" is the reason it ultimately doesn`t work- there are no discussions, just shouting matches. |
