| It is to the credit of Haaretz that this article has been written. What I have often complained of and called Biyuv - the Hebrew for sewage - has become the norm all to often in the Talkback columns of this paper, and their impact is to undermine the original point of the article of comment to the extent that that is lost or forgotten. I have many times urged stricter editorial control and I don`t think that were this employed that much would be swept under the balatot - tiles. Truth is a very precious commodity, and it is all too often turned in to the private preserve of one Talkbacker or another. What is my truth may not be acceptable as yours, but where this all fails is because few are prepared to find even a point-size of compromise. I am black and you are white is the Talkbackers` motto. Until that perception changes, the biyuv will continue to flow and Haaretz will be the poorer . |
