Yes things are different from the West. Yes, it takes a lot of time and patience to adapt. Yes, you have to learn to read backwards and speak a new language. Yes, the lines are long at the medical clinics but the treatment is not expensive and it`s excellent. Teachers aren`t always perfect and you might have to teach your own children English but the education children get here makes the country one of the most creative in the world.

Millie forgot to say that the drivers are among the most undisciplined in the world and that you shouldn`t expect the same kind of treatment in shops (stores) that you got at home. Make sure what you`re ordering and don`t pay til you`ve got it and until you`re satisfied. This is the Middle East after all.

But the advantages are intangible and great. It`s a wonderful country to live in and if it weren`t for the neighbours I`d say it was ideal.
