I am also an immigrant to Israel. At the moment I arrived to live with the woman who would become my wife, I found myself totally surrounded by only Israeli born Israelis, mainly Iraqi`s.
I have never even felt a hint of friction between my North American (Canadian) culture and the Israelis. They don;t seem to have any problem with Blues Music, or my atrocious accent.
My son is heavily into basketball, should this be a problem? Is basketball but another example of American cultural imperialism?
For god`s sake Brad it is a game. If American-israelis want to go out and play or watch the game, great. If Israelis get into playing it, even better.
But I do not think that the game itself is capable or needs to teach the Israelis anything. As my heading points out, baseball has long been riddled with actions like spit balls, brush backs, Ty Coobb, cleats high slides, beaned batters, bench clearing brawls, drunken fans, steroids, and corked bats.
Let`s play two!
