| I am proud to have been brought up in the USA. I hope I inculcated my kids with the principles of fair play, courtesy, ambition, respect for other`s beliefs without compromising your own, open mindedness, hard work, hard play, team work, etc, etc. Israel is a cultural work in process with many failures that need fixing (and many wonderful aspects deserving of imitation as well). It is infantile to say that I want to throw off all the healthy aspects of US culture. I want to affect Israel and not only be affected by it. There is no "pure" Jewish culture (including the Shtetl fantasy for Yeshiva Jewry), but just a long process of surviving the worst and adopting the best of the host populations. I love Thanksgiving (a non-sectarian thank you for abundance with Turkey and cranberries-what could be bad).Baseball is fun (or not if you hate it) and best of luck to the league. G-d bless the USA and Israel. |
