I remember watching a film about the rescue of the Jews from Denmark by the Swedes during World War II, and Jews throughout the world are grateful and appreciative of the efforts which were made by the Swedish people, such as your father, to perform this humanitarian act. One of the first acts that the late Menachem Begin did as Prime Minister of Israel was to allow several hundred Vietnamese refugees who were rescued at sea to come into Israel temporarily. Obviously, Israel is a small country with very limited resources, but it would seem to me that Israel should attempt to assist some of the refugees from Darfur, even on a temporary basis.
