Historically, one of Israels tools to deter attack was an unpredictable, insane overreaction to the attack. An example of this was Israels reaction to the Hizbollah border attack which resulted in Lebanon 2. The results of Lebanon 2 have made Israel "gun shy". Now they won`t even commit to a Gaza invasion in spite of continued Qassam attacks. The Israeli leadership has resorted to wringing their hands on the side lines in Gaza as the IAF bombs the odd militant. If there is another Hizbollah attack in the north, Israel will respond as with Hamas, using the IAF for the odd bombing run. Israel will apply the lessons of Lebanon 2 in planning Lebanon 3, but Hizbollah will be fighting the "next war", not the "last war". This could make it interesting for the IAF.
