| The Arabs have finally defeated us. They have done this not with armies on the battle field, or terror attacks in cafes, hotels, universities, nor through diplomacy or the innumerable General Assembly resolutions in the UN. They have not defeated us through their propaganda wars, their boycotts, their oil lobbies. No, they have defeated us through their inertia, their unwillingness to change, their unwillingness to govern, their perpetual claims to victimhood, their willingness to live without a country, or even autonomy, rather than compromise. Israelis, who have already evacuated Gaza, and would be willing to give up much of the West Bank, are faced with an aborted state, compelled against their best interest to play the occupier to a people who prefer the gun to freedom. They have defeated us, but all they have won is a state already dead, dead on arrival. |
