it`s not just israel that the UN lets down, but any country in the world that has the supposed honour of having UN peacekeepers on their territory.
i`m not blaming the soldiers necessarily; rather the generals and other people at the top.
just look at what happened in rwanda -- after telling them they`d protect them, the UN abandoned thousands of rwandans, pulling out like a bunch of cowards, leaving the poor helpless rwandans to certain death at the hands of their own countrymen. and what happened in bosnia back in the 90s?
the UN`s history can be plotted from one cowardly act to another. the only thing they`re good at is israel bashing (the "new" UN human rights council, for example). |
