I do not see any connection between the poverty of the `poor Palestinians` and the Jewish presence there. Contrary to that: the Jewish residents provided places to work for them (greenhouses, Erez Industrial area, etc.). If the fedayeen hadn`t attacked the Jews all the time, no responses from the IDF and no checkpoints were needed.
By the way, there is one single UN organisation (UNRWA) which aims to enhance the condition of the `refugees`. At least it should. And in addition to that hundreds of millions of dollars were poured into the Palestinian Authority (also from Switzerland, unfortunately) that the need of the poor should be addressed.
