Actually I read yesterday that this mobile homes had great pools of sewage on the floor - Jerusalem Post report.
Some of the people leaving Gush Katif have indeed behaved in a disgusting manner. Others have left early and I believe that includes people from Elei Sinai. There are those who behaved with great dignity, sending their children to relatives in Israel proper so as not to expose them to trauma and saying quiet goodbyes to their community. The state including Rabin used these people (including the religious fervour of some) and plonked them there. We are right to get rid of the settlements but at the end of the day despite whatever distress some of their number caused, these peoples` communties, homes and businesses were in Gush Katif and they are still part of the country. It is fair that they are giving what they lost in the same way that Palestinians should receive compensation. |
