| This revisionist thinking works fine in the old Shamir-Arens style of blame everyone else and yet do nothing, propose nothing, try nothing... In life you take responsibility and hope for reciprocity - all those Israeli leaders that Arens nah-nah`s made real efforts (and sacrifices) to secure peace, but what did Arens do? Nothing. Sure, it has not worked out at all like many had hoped, but this is only in the short term, in the long run some semblance of a better peace may win the day. But not according to Arens - in his visionary thinking we should have just continued to sit on and suppress the Palestinian population forever and ever. So what if it destroys our morality, our democracy, and our own sense of responsibility. Arens never got it and never will. Better to try and fail than do nothing (and which would only lead to a far greater human tragedy). This guy deserves no respect, because he doesn`t give any. |
