Re: ?Plastic: The new leather??
While writer Ilit Mainemer thinks that plastic flip-flips are a ?fashion don?t,? we hope she doesn?t feel the same way about all synthetic shoes.
Any byproduct of the meat industry?such as leather?is a cruel product that contributes to killing. After being transported in all weather extremes to the slaughterhouse, animals raised for meat and skin are shot in the head with a bolt gun, hung up by their legs, and taken onto the killing floor, where their throats are cut and they are skinned. Some animals remain completely conscious throughout the entire process.
Animal-friendly fashionistas are increasingly supporting creative labels like Matt & Nat, Bourgeois Bohème, Stella McCartney, and Marc Bouwer that don?t use a stitch of fur or leather in their designs. Many of their products are available online. To find out more, please visit PETA?s Web site www.CaringConsumer.com.
