| Why start at the year 2000? Try going back a bit further. 1948 for example. Lebanon has been a mess thanks to Britain and France artificially dividing up the Middle East. There have been constant terrorist attacks on Israel from that territory. Remember Ma?a lot? Rocket attacks on Kiryat Shmonah? Granted these were sometimes by rouge elements that took control of the Southern regions of Lebanon, but supported largely by the population. Israel in 1970`s and 1980s tried to remove the threat from its Northern border, with massive incursions and in between with minor ones. Whenever the Lebanese border was quiet, Israel kept the peace. The latest round was definitely started by Hezbollah. They continue to rearm and threaten Israel again as we write. Ask them what their final negotiating platform is and you will see that Israel has no choice, beat them or cease to exist. |
