First, let me say that Olmert should be put out of office. Perhaps we agree about that.
That said, building Seaports and Airports threaten nobody, so I have no problem with that.
But, what kind of places will they be?
As things currently stand, some sort of Palestinian/Hamas `ministry of vice and virtue` will operate them under extremely discriminatory rules. (Remember the attack on the Gaza UNRWA school because girls were allowed to play sports?) Is that ok with you? Then by all means, continue. But is it too much to ask the you (and Europe) insist that your aid be used in a non-discriminatory, non-violent fashion? (Should hospitals you support permit the practice of female genital mutilation? Should the police force you subsidize ignore, or conspire in, honor-killings?)
Would you agree that it makes little sense to persist in imagining that there is a "Unity" government, and trying to support it, while a civil war rages in the real PA world? |
