Indonesia`s occupation (1976-1999) on East Timor was totally a different thing, an isolated tragedy from the reality of the most of Indonesian people. Military regime under Soeharto who invaded East Timor had a full support from the US (under Gerald Ford) and Australia (Gough Whitlam) governments at that time, on the basis on Containtment Policy upon communism in South-East Asia after Vietnam War was over. Those western regimes was closing their eyes when the Soeharto regime had been committing crimes against humanity in that areas. Every Timorese knew that, that`s why they have no problem with us today after they got their independence. That`s completely your problem whether to believe this or not. I said this many times in this forum. Most of the times, people only believes what they wanted to believe. It happened, I personally feel sorry about those victim of Indonesians attrocities. |
