Theoretically there are three contenders for the ?job? Presidency of the State of Israel which colloquial is given the name the ?Jewish Democratic State of Israel.? Now we are informed of the ultra orthodox sages12 members decision that all Shas party members of Knesset are to vote for Shimon Peres as President. ? As reported by media one Knesset Shas member wanted to be ?allowed? to vote for another pretender Rivlin, discussed this ?problem? with former Rabbi Ovadia Yossef with the result of his ?change of mind? :- "?if the decision is that we are all going in one direction, we will all obey. As a movement, we must follow what the rabbis say, and personal interests must be left aside?." - Herewith the ?democracy ended!?
Nobody was informed and no such demand / law was voiced yet, that each prospective Presidential candidate should pass a thourough medical examination to prove his ability to sustain the many official functions throughout his tenure of seven years! This decision should be made public, also during the prospective tenure. - Considering Shimon Peres 83 years in another two months if he manages to carry out the necessary functions connected with the Presidency he would be close to ninety years old at the end of his term!
In view of the missing public announcement of fitness and health so far this becomes a necessity as Israel?s public is entitled to be informed about the state of health of Israel?s unifying apolitical President respectively prospective President, to be assured of being served as needed. |
