Its easy to blame anti-semitism. It is easy to blame political prejudice, or especially for many Haaretz columnists, that we have done something terribly wrong in the world, a matter which at many levels I personally dispute.
This put aside, a VERY large factor driving the "world against us" factor, stems from the bottom line that Israel has lost very badly in a battle for Public Relations (PR) that Palestinian and Arab nations know how to play very well. In fact we are so bad at the PR game, I don`t think it is even fair to say that we have entered the battle to start with.
Yes it is incorrect for us to curl up in a defensive self-righteous posture and accept things as they are. But the solution is to go on the offensive and to enter with great resolve the pro-Israeli PR game. There will be a substantial learning curve in this arena required, and we certainly will not win many of these battles, especially at the start. But battle we must. |
